GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Why we sequence the scheme of work this way

  • Browing used as a transition unit between 11 and 12 (only assesses AO1 and AO2 )

  • TGG reading used for summer transition work  builds on writing skills at GCSE and commentary writing develops to Advanced level 

  • Builds on understanding of tragedy from Yr 11 

  

  • AQA advice is to interleave across the course

  • Complexity of the requirements and terminology 

  • Paris texts need to be begun ahead of NEA in Summer 

  • Complexity of the requirements and terminology mean this cannot take place during the transition period 

  • AQA advice is to interleave across the course

  

  • Enables students to complete the required reading for both units across the summer

  • NEA uses skills closely linked with Paris and so it is necessary for students to have covered these texts already

Why we sequence the scheme of work this way

  • Summer holidays provides sufficient preparation time- reading and research 

  • Requires independent working skills acquired across the course 

  • Examiner feedback shows that this has previously been a lower performing unit so we have moved it to Year 13 to ensure students have required skillset.

  • ASND interleaved with spoken Paris texts in Yr13 following AQA recommendation

  • PPE takes place ahead of Christmas  to ensure revision time is used effectively
