GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Glyn School retains Outstanding grading from Ofsted

We are delighted that our school has again been rated Outstanding, with inspectors noting that “Staff and pupils are immensely proud to be a part of the school, poor behaviour is extremely rare (and) pupils demonstrate strong values, mutual respect and an authentic understanding of equality and inclusion.”

Attendance is high, and inspectors praised the “exceptionally strong” relationships between staff and students, recognising that students see teachers “as experts in their subjects”. They appreciated that “Leaders’ high expectations come to fruition, as seen through pupils’ impressive academic achievements (with) “Pupils’ work strongly reflect(ing) the pride they take in their learning”.

The inspection report commends our “meticulously planned(,) ambitious, challenging and engaging” curriculum which “is designed to ensure pupils master the intended learning”. It states that “Opportunities to develop pupil’s talents and interests are exceptional and wide-ranging (and) extra-curricular provision is extensive”, with the valued house system offering many opportunities for active participation. The report also highlights that “Care for the most vulnerable pupils is exceptional.”

We are particularly pleased that inspectors noted that “Significant numbers of pupils join the vibrant sixth form”, acknowledging that “Sixth-form provision is of the same high quality as for the rest of the school”, with students encouraged “to pursue aspirational career choices”. The “quality of students’ sixth-form experience is reflected in their strong academic outcomes, progression to universities and high-quality apprenticeships.”

I am immensely proud of our whole community, we have an excellent team of people at Glyn, fantastic students and supportive families.  I am pleased that inspectors captured the heart of our school and what we stand for. This is a whole community effort that has been recognised by Ofsted, whilst we do not do what we do for Ofsted, it is pleasing the work and dedication has been acknowledged.  Glyn truly is a fantastic place for youngsters to learn and staff to work.
