The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association
Students will be returning after half term to the Carew and Merton Houses’ Charity Week! We will be raising money for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, an extremely worthwhile cause, I’m sure you would agree. On Wednesday this week, students in Years 7 and 8 were treated to a wonderful visit by representatives from the charity during a special assembly. We were all delighted to have two guide dogs in attendance; the students were clearly enchanted to have two such wonderful dogs in their assembly!
With regards to the specific events, each lunchtime during the week of 20-24 February will see a football-themed skills challenge taking place on the junior school playground. There will be prizes for each event and a crowned champion at the end of the week.
We are delighted that some of the charity representatives will be returning to school on Friday 24 February to demonstrate how the guide dogs are trained. Students will then be able to take part in obstacle courses using the guide dogs.
Please encourage students to save some of their pocket money over the half term so that they can take part in the activities during the charity week and help to raise funds for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Let’s help to make a difference to this fantastic organisation!
Many thanks for your support of Carew and Merton Houses Charity Week.
Have a wonderful half term holiday.
