What makes Glyn Outstanding all round?

Outstanding teaching, which enthuses and motivates students, is the key to success at Glyn School which encourages high aspirations and pride.

There are so many reasons and you can discover more during our Open Evening on Wednesday 10 July from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

The school was rated by Ofsted as Outstanding in all areas with a report peppered with praise and commenting on a ‘powerful school ethos that promotes high aspirations and a shared sense of purpose.”

A challenging curriculum which caters for individuals, along with a positive ethos that encourages high standards, ensured Glyn School took its place among the top schools which are outstanding across all areas.

“Groups of students, including those who are known to be eligible for free school meals, disabled students and those who have special educational needs, progress at a similarly fast rate as others as a result of well-targeted provision,” the report said.

Students learn from each other and ‘use their outstanding social skills of diplomacy and tact to evaluate the work of others’ while understanding their targets and the criteria for different grades.

Teaching at the school is ‘never less than good’ and is consistent which has resulted in great results at both GCSE and A Level.

“Teachers have  a real passion for their subjects and have highly effective skills in imparting knowledge and understanding to students at all levels,” noted the inspection team.

The school offers valuable opportunities for links with local business and industry to make learning relevant and students value the support they receive.

“Students' outstanding behaviour contributes significantly to their achievement in lessons and to their social development. Students appreciate that they learn within a society where they can explore their own thinking because all views are listened to and valued,” said the report.
