What's kept Glyn outstanding since 2012?

We have outstanding teaching which enthuses and motivates students along with a great Sixth Form and a challenging curriculum. Our leaders have high aspirations while students' behaviour is also outstanding. The sharing of best practice has a positive impact and we have an excellent rapport with our students.

The Leadership and Management team is relentless in the pursuit of excellence and inspires a strong culture and excitement for learning among both staff and students.

We have an ongoing programme of staff development and support. Our system to monitor the school’s work and that of individuals is rigorous and the strengths we have are ‘crystal clear.’

Our curriculum has evolved and our students have choices of courses which meet their needs and interests, including the vocational courses and provision for food technology.

“There is extensive provision for the arts, drama and sport and a wide range of enrichment activities promoting students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development alongside their academic achievement,” says our Ofsted report.

The breadth of experience and mix of complementary skills across the governing body is used very effectively to hold the school to account, with the key aim of continued improvement.

“The school is outward looking and partnership arrangements with other schools are broadening teachers’ expertise and ensuring a smooth transition in students’ learning when they join in Year 7,” the report adds.

Ensuring equality of opportunity and tackling discrimination lies at the heart of our school’s vision and because we evaluate our work accurately, prompt steps can be taken should action be needed.
