Clothes Sought for Charity

‘Whitechapel Mission’ Charity - Unwanted Clothes Sought

As we all look forward to the Christmas break, and hopefully the opportunity to catch up with family we have not seen for much of this year, I wanted to ask for your support again, please, for a homeless charity.

The current economic climate is causing families to find themselves in more and more challenging times. People who had previously assumed the safety of their careers and jobs are finding themselves unemployed and facing huge financial and emotional struggles. The homeless population has risen hugely, and the risk of Covid-19 to these vulnerable people is much higher due to the impossibility of controlling the infection in homeless settings.

Last year, the Glyn community supported Whitechapel Mission, a homeless charity, through your generous donations. Indeed, we received a thank you letter from the Chief Executive of the charity.  As many of us will be fortunate enough to receive gifts, including new clothes, please consider donating your old clothes to this homeless charity. If you have a clear-out during the Christmas break and have unwanted adults’ clothes, please bag them up and ask your child to drop them into the Heads of House Office from now until Friday 12 February 2021, when we will deliver the items to the charity.

Below is a list of items of which the charity is in desperate need:

  • Sleeping bags
  • Socks 'n' chocs
  • Woollen hats
  • Woollen gloves
  • Woollen scarves
  • Winter jackets
  • Winter coats
  • Baseball caps
  • Men’s woollen gloves
  • Black woollen hats
  • Woollen scarves
  • Shoe and boot laces
  • Underpants
  • Socks
  • Boxer shorts
  • Jeans (all sizes from 28” to 36")
  • Trousers (all sizes from 28” to 34")
  • Small rucksacks
  • Men’s trainers
  • Men’s Shoes

We are mindful that you have given generously to the Epsom and Ewell Foodbank this Christmas, but if you are also able to support this homeless charity by donating unwanted adult-size items, as above, we know that Whitechapel Mission will be grateful.
