Sporting Round Up

Glyn Football have made progress in the National Cup with the U16 B Team Football reaching the Semi Final of the National Cup after winning 7-6 on penalties. A block fixture on Saturday saw the school play Cedars with the U12 C Team beating Cedars 6-1 and the U15 B Team winning 10-0. Last Thursday Mr Dawson led the first U18 Girls Football training. The Girls will continue to train until their first game in March against Reigate College.

Glyn took four students to the Surrey U13 Table Tennis individual tournament, where Harrison (7T) and Spencer (8A) finished 3rd and 4th respectively. Glyn also took two students to the U16 Surrey competition. Both reached the semi-final knockouts but Krish (11D) won the tournament, retaining his U16 title from last year.

Mr Simonds lead the Glyn Hockey Team to their first Saturday Fixture last weekend. Two Glyn teams participated in a round-robin tournament between Downsend School and Epsom Hockey Club. 8 fixtures were played in total, with Glyn winning 6 of them and losing 2.  Ethan (7A) and Reuben (8T) both earned Man-of -the-Match awards alongside great performances from everyone in both Glyn teams.

On Wednesday Glyn Hockey had another set of fixtures against Teddington school, with the U13 A team winning 6-1 and the U13B team winning 3-2. Nathan (7M) and Rafi (7C) played particularly well against an experienced opposition.

Glyn Rugby have had a variety of fixtures in the past week starting with a 2XV fixture last week against Whitgift 2XV. On Friday, four games were played at Priest Hill; two Year 9 games against Harrodian, and then a Year 7 Tournament against Riddlesdown and Salesians. This week has been another competitive week for Rugby with games played on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for different Year groups, culminating with the 1XV and 2XV playing this Wednesday against Reeds and Latymer Upper.
