Year 8 Times Tables Challenge

You may have read about the recent Year 7 Times Tables Rock Stars Challenge, where students answered almost half a million questions correctly.  Well, I’m now back with a Year 8 challenge, to see if they can surpass the Year 7 totals!

Times Tables Rock Stars is a website that allows students to practise their times tables whenever they wish; Year 8 students will almost certainly be familiar with the website.  Students can just log on and play, and they can also have competitions with their friends.  There are games where the aim is to be as accurate as possible, and others where the aim is to be as quick as possible.

To take part in the competition, students need to log on to their Times Tables Rock Stars account. Students can email me via m.chhatralia@glynschool.org if they need a reminder of their password. Students can play any games as often as they wish.  For each correct answer, students earn a battle point for their Form and, at the same time, earn ‘coins', which enable them to buy clothes for their character.  I have sent an email to Year 8 students’ school email accounts to explain this competition.

The Year 8 Easter 2021 Times Tables Rock Star Challenge will be running from 6.00am on Saturday 27 March until 9.00pm on Sunday 25 April (the Easter break and a week on either side).  Students can log in at any time between 6.00am and 9.00pm throughout those dates, and as often as they wish.  The more they play, the more they will practise, and the more points they will earn for their Form.  Every five minutes here and there can really make a difference.  Every child, whatever their level, should join in as this will only make them faster and better at their times tables.  I have set the battle to only accumulate points between 6.00am and 9.00pm daily so that students do not stay on their devices late into the night.

Year 8 students, do join in and make your Form the Year 8 champions!
