Careers Fair - Thursday 7 March 2024

1

This week we held our Annual Careers Fair for Years 7 - 13. The purpose of the Careers Fair is to provide our students with an opportunity to find out more about future careers and education opportunities which are open to them.

This year our exhibitors were:

  • Employers from a wide range of industry sectors
  • Representatives from the Royal Navy, NHS and the Emergency Services
  • A selection of Colleges and Universities
  • A range of Apprenticeship specialists
  • GLF colleagues to discuss a career in teaching

Our Glyn School Careers Advisor was also on hand to answer any questions.

Careers Fair

The Careers Fair is an important part of our Careers Programme, supporting our students with their Next Steps, This allows our students to have positive interactions with Employers, Apprenticeship Providers and Further & Higher Education Intuitions.

We really do appreciate the help and support from this year's exhibitors and the guidance and advice they gave our students.  Without them, the Careers Fair would not be possible.

Preparing our students for the future is very important to us and the more interactions they have with outside providers the better informed they will be. To support our students to make the right choices for their future we believe exposure to employers and education providers is essential. At Glyn School we do this through assemblies, workshops, our annual Careers Fair, and Work Experience in Year 10 and Year 12. Below is a list of the exciting activities we have had so far this year and we are hoping for further planned events in the Summer term

  • Year 7 to 10 BBC Careers Bitesize Career tour focusing on Careers in Media
  • Year 9 STEM workshops focusing on Careers in Science, Engineering, Maths and Technology
  • Year 10 motivational speaker from the Finance sector
  • Year 10 and 9 assembly delivered by the Royal Navy
  • Year 9 and 10 speaker focusing on the Importance of Languages
  • Year 7 to 13 Careers Fair

We are already thinking ahead to our Careers Programme next year, and if you or your employer would like to take part in future Careers Fairs, assemblies or workshops for our students, please contact me at K.Jones@glynschool.org.
