Football and Rugby Trials September 2026

At Glyn School, both football and rugby are played to a very high standard. The Trials for these teams will take place at the The Paul Beeken Sports Pavillion (Priest Hill) on the dates and times shown below:

Friday 4 September 2026 Saturday 5 September 2026

Football - Abbey, Bourne, Carew and Derby

Rugby - Abbey, Bourne, Carew and Derby

Rugby - Merton, St Benet, Oaks and Tudor

Football - Merton, St Benet, Oaks and Tudor

9.00am - 11.00am at Priest Hill

There is limited parking space at Priest Hill, so in order to help prevent congestion, parents are asked to park in the NESCOT car park and walk to the playing fields.

There will also be a final trial for selected football students on Wednesday 9 September 2026 from 3.30pm - 5.00pm at Priest Hill.  A further round of trials for rugby may be organised for this date also, however, we will let students know any further details.

Students involved in the Friday or Wednesday trials should meet outside the School Canteen at 3.10 pm, at which point they will be escorted up to Priest Hill by members of the PE staff.

All students must wear their full school Games kit, which consists of the blue reversible rugby shirt, blue Glyn shorts, and blue socks.  For rugby, every student must also bring a gum shield (students without gumshields will not be allowed to play in the contact element of the trials) and for football, shin pads must be worn. Goalkeepers should also bring gloves and a goalkeeper top of their choice. Students will also need enough water for the session, any personal medication, and adequate sun protection in the event of warm conditions.

If you have any questions relating to these trials, please contact Mr Long (j.long@glynschool.org) regarding Football Trails and Mr Churchill (a.churchill@glynschool.org )regarding Rugby Trails.
