CCF REPORT - March in March

We have had a couple of busy weekends recently in CCF with Exercise Half Way taking place on Hankley Common where Harry S 11D was promoted to Sergeant following his hard work every week with the contingent. This meant that he took the role of second in command and helped the cadets who were leading sections for the first time. Another honourable mention has to go to Jamie 9C who was the only student from his year group at Glyn who was able to attend the weekend exercise. However we are always pleased how well the cadets from both schools just mix up and get stuck into the tasks.

The weather was kind to us and the cadets had the experience of sleeping out under their bashas and eating army ration packs. The exercise also enabled the students to carryout activities which they have learnt about in lessons on Thursday evening, as well as having the opportunity to use blank fire.

Although tired on our return the feedback I have received has been really positive and we would not be able to run these without the help of our colleagues at City of London Freemen’s School.

Pictured below, getting ready after breaking down our camp and having breakfast, before we started the next activity. In the field practicing setting up an ambush.

On St. Patrick’s day we had a group of six cadets who joined Freeman’s cadets and 2Lt Toye, and Capt. Truelove for a ten mile hike to raise money for Combat Stress for veterans’ mental health. Miss Daudi helped me in the support vehicle making sure that everyone had full water bottles and to keep up their moral. It was great to see how enthusiastic the Cadets were given the weather was so poor when they set off and the rain made the terrain difficult to deal with all the mud. A huge congratulations needs to go to the following students; Spencer 10B, Jamie 9C, Rihan 9C, Luke 10B, Charlie 10B, Joseph 10O.
