From tomorrow, schools will be closed except for children of critical workers and the most vulnerable. We must ensure NHS staff are able to access school places. Don’t take a place you don’t need. Be responsible. Keep your kids at home. https://t.co/B4QZJG7kY4

Parent Staff Association & Fundraising

All Parents, Carers and staff are welcome to attend the PSA Meetings which occur once per term. In these meetings, parents have the opportunity to feedback face to face with a member of leadership team on anything from school operations to new initiatives. In addition, the meeting is used to discuss fundraising.

The Glyn School Parent Staff Association made a record profit of £34,791,81 last year.

The money is used for a huge range of projects and much of the money is bid for by teachers. Highlights from last year include:

  • Equipment for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions
  • KS3 Shakespeare workshop
  • ELSA support
  • Accelerated reader program
  • Defibrillator in the Sports Hall and Priest Hill
  • DT Laser Cutter
  • Stage Piano
  • Numerous Author visits
  • Table tennis tables
  • LRC books for Accelerated reader
  • Science GCSE Practical lab books
  • Rugby Tour, Year 11 & 13 Prom contributions
  • Mini-bus

This is achieved through the following:

Company Matched Giving/Funding Schemes

We now have five Parents and Carers who Match Fund for the PSA, thank you so much. It would be fantastic if we could double that amount this year, it really does make a difference.

Many companies offer their employees the chance to take part in a matched funding scheme or will give their chosen charity a donation. The company will provide additional funding to a good cause (usually on a £ for £ basis up to a maximum amount). Argos, Barclays, Boots, Citigroup, Ford, HBOS, J Sainsbury, KPMG, Legal & General, RBS, Tesco, Thames Water and Unilever are just a few companies that offer Matched Funding.

Generally, the employee must have been involved in the fundraising event as a volunteer . The amount offered will vary depending on the organisation and conditions may apply. Throughout the year we sell refreshments at various events, school discos, Christmas Fayre & Priest Hill. We also have the disco ticket sales, raffle and various stalls at Christmas.

The PSA is a registered Charity (Charity Number 312016). If you require further information, or work for a company that offers Matched Funding, please get in touch. GlynPSA@Outlook.com.

Easy fundraising – Internet Cashback Site

We have raised over £5,400 so far with Easyfundraising and that's with 242 registered supporters. Thank you! Easy fundraising works in a similar way too many other loyalty shopping sites, but instead of earning points when you shop you raise a donation for Glyn instead. It's as simple as that!

http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/glynpsa

Please register and help us raise more money by just doing your usual shopping.

If you shop online the PSA will get a percentage of everything you buy at no cost to you at all, as long as when you register you choose to help the 'Glyn School PSA' to raise funds. There are thousands of retailers who take part including Amazon, Next, Expedia, John Lewis, Tesco Mobile, O2, Confused, PV Holidays, Hoseasons, Crystal Ski Holidays and Apple. The donation money is then paid directly into our bank.

Amazon Smile - Internet Cashback

You shop. Amazon gives to Glyn. Amazon donates 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) of eligible purchases to Glyn School PSA when you shop at smile.amazon.co.uk.

Same products, prices and service. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know with the added benefit of supporting charitable organisations.

You can make a difference while you shop at Amazon. Simply shop at https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ch/312016-0 and Amazon donates to Glyn School PSA.

Glyn PSA is on eBay

eBay for Charity is an easy way for buyers and sellers on eBay.co.uk to support their favourite charities including Glyn SchoolPSA. Buyers can shop for items knowing they're supporting a good cause. Sellers, whether they're individuals or businesses, can donate a percentage from any sale to Glyn and add Gift Aid to their donations. In addition, all eBay for Charity items will qualify for a fee credit on basic insertion and final value fees equal to the percentage donated.

It is really easy to use, when listing an item go via 'Advanced Sell' on the eBay home page; the charity box is just below where you set your price. Just choose Glyn School PSA and the percentage you want to donate. 3 weeks after your item sells PayPal will collect the donation from you.

If you would like further information  please email the PSA at GlynPSA@Outlook.com

Foreign Coins and Old Coins and Banknotes

We are asking for money you will not miss.

You can help without really having to put your hand in your pocket by simply sorting out any old foreign notes and coins left over from holidays and business trips.

Any old British or Irish coins and notes can also help. Even old decimal coins or farthings, 1d pennies, three pence, six pence, shillings and crowns are welcome.

So seek out those old Spanish Pesetas, American Dollars, and German Marks etc., literally anything, even obsolete currency can help. Foreign coins and small banknotes cannot be exchanged at any British bank or Bureau de Change.

So please take a moment to donate these coins and banknotes and Cash4Coins will buy it all and turn it into a useful donation for Glyn.

Please return your donations to Student Reception.

Can you help in any other way, providing refreshments or other items throughout the year?

We will also publish all sponsorships within our newsletters and communications regularly to all parents. If you think you can help, please get in touch. Don’t forget Charity Giving or Matched funding. GlynPSA@Outlook.com
