Glyn Wins the Boundless Chess Tournament
The annual Secondary Schools Chess Festival took place on 10 October, bringing together five schools for an exciting day of strategic battles over the chessboard. Glyn competed against four other secondary schools — Rosebery, Merstham Park, The Beacon, and Meridian — in a series of intense matches.
Final results were:
Glyn beat Rosebery 11.5-0.5
Glyn beat Merstham Park 5-2
Glyn beat The Beacon 5-2
Glyn beat Meridian 3-1
Glyn delivered an outstanding performance at this year’s GLF Schools Boundless Chess Festival, emerging as the overall champions after dominant victories against the four other Secondary schools. Leading to a total score of 79 and therefore winning the GLF Boundless Chess Tournament by 10 points!
In the individual element of the festival - Soham S (9T) won overall with 18 points (without losing a match). Followed by Flynn (8M) with 17 points and Khayan (7C) with 16 points.
The team of Soham, Flynn, Emmet M (8SB), Oliver B (7C) and Khayan P managed to defend the schools 2024/25 chess title and we look forward to trying again next year!
