Surrey Schools Swimming Relay Championships.

On Saturday 27 September, Glyn’s Junior and Intermediate Boys’ Swimming Teams represented the school at the annual Surrey Schools Swimming Relay Championships.

For the Junior Team it was their very first experience at this level of competition. Every swimmer embraced the opportunity to represent Glyn, showing great determination and team spirit throughout.

The races were highly competitive, with many teams fielding older and more experienced swimmers. Despite this challenge, our boys put in an excellent effort across both events. Their strongest performance came in the freestyle relay, where they finished a respectable 13th out of 16 teams, achieving a time of 2:42.

With the majority of the squad in Year 7 competing against Year 8 swimmers, this was a fantastic achievement and a valuable learning experience. The boys should be proud of their commitment and enthusiasm, and we look forward to seeing them continue to progress in future competitions.

The Intermediate Boys’ Swimming Team, who have been competing together for the past two years, once again demonstrated outstanding teamwork and determination at this year’s Surrey Schools Swimming Relay Championships. The bond they have built as a squad was clear to see, both in their performances and in the way they supported one another throughout the event.

In the freestyle relay, the team got off to a strong start, finishing 4th in their heat out of 8. Once all heats had been completed, they secured an impressive 7th place overall out of 16 schools – a fantastic achievement, clocking in at a time of 2.01.01.

Their performance in the medley relay was even more inspiring. George B (10T) led the team off with a powerful backstroke leg, followed by Cruz W (9SB) in breaststroke. Zachary B (9C) then delivered a strong butterfly swim before Harrison T (9B) brought the team home in freestyle, finishing in 3rd place for their heat. Overall they secured 5th place out of 15 teams. This result was particularly commendable given that three of our swimmers are still in Year 9, competing against older Year 10 students.

Congratulations to all eight swimmers who represented Glyn with pride, respect, and determination. Their commitment and teamwork were exemplary, and they should be very proud of their achievements.
