Glyn v Old Glynians' Darts Match

The inaugural Glyn vs Old Glynians' darts match delivered a mix of rivalry, laughter, and sharp finishing, but it was the current students who emerged with a commanding 8–4 victory over the Old Glynians'. The match format featured eight singles games followed by four doubles contests, giving both sides plenty of chances to shine.

Doubles: Students Take 3 of 4

The doubles matches were up first and showcased the school team’s chemistry. Quick communication, well‑timed scoring bursts, and confident checkouts helped them secure three of the four pairings.

The Old Glynians' grabbed one doubles win with a spirited performance, reminding everyone of their experience and teamwork, but the students’ consistency ultimately proved decisive.

Singles:

The singles matches were just as exciting and were set a familiar rhythm throughout. The school team looked confident on the oche, taking five of the eight contests with steady scoring and calm finishing under pressure.

The Old Glynians', however, found two of their brightest moments against:

  • Riley, who was edged out in a tight, tactical affair by Sam Brooker (formerly of Tudor).

  • Oscar C, who fell to a late surge of accuracy from an experienced Old Glynian Ollie Dodd (formerly of Tudor).

The Old Glynians' added one more singles win, meaning a slightly less embarrassing scoreboard showing an 8-4 victory for the school.

A deserved victory for the school built on years of practice and development. The Old Glynians' brought humour, and flashes of their old brilliance, ensuring that everyone is looking forward the repeat fixture next year.

Plenty of smiles, handshakes, and talk of next year’s rematch rounded off a memorable evening. Our thanks go to the Old Glynians' who gave up their time to play, and to Mr Bridgman who organised the match!
